Michael R. Macdonald, M.D., F.A.C.S., F.R.C.S.C

In addition to traditional facelift and blepharoplasty procedures, Michael Macdonald, M.D. offers non-surgical face lift and blepharoplasty alternatives with liquid face lift procedures. Dr. Macdonald has performed nearly 20,000 non-invasive liquid facelift procedures, using advanced injection techniques, with advanced dermal fillers such as Radiesse^®, Restylane^®, Perlane^®, and Juvederm^®, as well as with BOTOX^® and Dysport^®. Dr. Macdonald has a private practice, Aesthetic Surgery Center, in San Francisco, California.

Committed to giving back to the community, Dr. Macdonald participates in the National Domestic Violence Program of the AAFPRS and medical missions to Guatemala. Dr. MacDonald has been featured on TV media such as ABC News, CNN/Tech TV and the Dr. Dean Edell Program. He has been voted "Best Plastic Surgeon in Northern California" by KRON viewers. He is the author of several medical articles and has received numerous awards and scholarships related to his clinical research. He has presented to other physicians internationally and throughout the country on numerous occasions, and is a frequent guest speaker on cosmetic medical topics.

In addition to his private practice in San Francisco, Dr. Macdonald is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Surgery at University of California, San Francisco. In addition to this appointment, he has taught at the Meiji College of Oriental Medicine and for the Oakland Kaiser Head and Neck Surgery training program. He is a Director for the BOTOX^® Cosmetic National Physician Training Center, and trains other physicians in advanced injection techniques as a member of the Allergan (makers of BOTOX^®) National Education Faculty. Dr. Macdonald serves as a consultant and instructor for Allergan, Medicis (makers of Restylane^®) and Restore Medical.

Dr. Macdonald received his medical degree from Queen’s University, Ontario, Canada. He completed his general surgery residency at Dartmouth College (Hitchcock Medical Center), and his otolaryngology - head and neck surgery residency at the University of Toronto, Canada. Dr. Macdonald then completed a post-graduate fellowship in hair restoration surgery and an advanced fellowship in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery (AAFPRS). He is Board certified as a Diplomate of the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and a Diplomate of the American Board of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery.

In addition to providing non-surgical liquid face lift procedures, Dr. Macdonald specializes in facial plastic and cosmetic surgery (nose refinement, eyelid refinement, face lift, “48-hour face lift”, brow lift, chin implants, ear refinement, cheek re-contouring and liposuction). Non surgical procedures include snoring correction (Pillar Procedure), lip enhancement, laser treatments for pigmented and vascular lesions, sclerotherapy, laser hair removal, laser skin resurfacing, wrinkle correction with BOTOX^®, collagen induction therapy and ScanLite^tm laser facial.
