Dr. Gervais has been recognized by the Minnesota Society of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeons, the Minnesota Medical Association, and the Hennepin County Medical Society for his achievements. Dr. Tholen has served on several plastic surgery and medical/surgical committees, has been a case reviewer for BC/BS and Medicare, and has served as president of state and regional plastic surgery societies.

Dr. Tholen is Board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, with additional training in cosmetic surgery, breast surgery, suction-assisted liposuction, ultrasonic liposuction, and laser surgery. He is the President of Minneapolis Plastic Surgery, LTD and has been associated with MPS since completing his seven years of surgical training at the Mayo Clinic in 1987. As a faculty member of Laser Centers of America, he teaches courses nationally and internationally. Dr. Tholen has authored peer-reviewed plastic surgical literature, and has presented over 150 papers on all aspects of cosmetic surgery and other plastic surgical procedures at meetings of cosmetic medical physicians, nationally. As an advocate for advanced training, education and certification for doctors in his field, Dr. Tholen is actively involved in state and regional plastic surgery societies.

Dr. Gervais is Board certified by both the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery. He received his medical degree at the University of Minnesota, and then completed seven years of surgical training, including five years at Boston University and two years of specialist training at Vanderbilt. He has specialized training in cosmetic breast surgery, body contouring, facial cosmetic surgery and laser resurfacing. Dr. Gervais has additional training in ultrasonic body contouring, and participated in research to develop and advance this technology.

Regularly, Dr. Tholen donates his time to Operation Smile International and Children’s Surgery International, performing cleft palate and cleft lip surgery for children around the globe. Dr. Gervais serves on the Board of Directors of the Boys and Girls Club of the Twin Cities and the Children’s Theatre Company. He is also the Medical Director for the “Get Out Program”, an organization that assists teens in leaving gang life and completing their education.
